• Foundation Inspection

  If you have noticed any cracks or instability in the foundation of your home, give us a call at 860-646-9983 and one of our inspectors will come out to provide you with a thorough inspection of the property's foundation. You will receive a detailed report and our certified foundation and structure inspectors will take the time to explain any and all issues, so you'll know the extent to the damage and whether or not you need repairs.

• Well Inspection

  A well flow test will help determine if there is a problem with the well or its associated equipment such as the pump and storage tank that requires further evaluation or repair by a professional well contractor. All visible components of the well system will be inspected. This includes the well head, if above ground and visible, the pressure (storage) tank, the piping and wiring and the well pump (only jet pumps, which are typically located next to or on top of the storage tank can be visually inspected). If a well has a submersible pump (meaning the pump is inside the well shaft) it is not visible and can not be inspected.

• Gas Leak Detection

  We use a handheld gas leak detector to trace the visible and accessible gas piping within the home, concentrating on unions (connections with in the piping) and any accessible appliance connectors. This can also be used to detect leaks at or near a gas meter.

• Oil Tank Inspection

  Sherwood Inspection Services offers ultrasonic testing of oil storage tanks. This method of testing enables us to determine the thickness of the belly of the tank – the area most vulnerable to corrosion. All of our licensed home inspectors carry an ultrasonic kit and are trained in its use. We calibrate the instrument on the spot before each and every test, take a control measure on the top of the tank, and then in a typical test we probe twelve points on the belly of the tank. We report to you the thinnest measure and its location. If the belly measures are within an industry-recognized range of the control measure (on known gauge – thickness – of the tank) the tank qualifies for the TankSure™ Program.

• Pool Inspection

  The intent of a pool inspection is to evaluate the current condition of all accessible pool components for safety and operation: Pool / spa placement and protection: This includes fencing, gates, screen enclosure, the pool’s proximity to electrical wires and outlets, and the pool’s location in relation to the home. Pool / spa vessel and coping: This includes the pool and deck surface condition (cracks, discoloration, and pitting) and the coping surrounding the pool (open joints, cracking). Drains are inspected for the presence of anti-vortex covers for safety reasons. Pool / spa equipment: This includes inspection of pool/spa lights, the presence of GFCI devices, junction box condition and location, pumps, filters, piping, timers, disconnects, heaters, controls, accessories, skimmers, and the appropriate electrical bonding. Pool / spa equipment operation: This includes operation of the pump, inspection for leakage, checking for proper skimming and filtration, heater activation, checking filter pressure and the operation of the spa blower. Upon completion of the pool/spa inspection, a detailed report will be generated. The report will summarize our findings, include general maintenance tips, and identify areas in need of attention. Our report enables you to proceed with confidence in your purchasing decision and helps you look forward to becoming a pool owner.
